The myth of the pioneer hero who overcame extreme hardships to establish a free country is as prominent a part of the historical narrative in Israel, where I was raised, as it is in the US. In both cases the need to maintain that myth was important in order to disguise some aspects of those histories that were, and still are, extremely problematic. I am interested in creating a series of environments in which participants and I will perform fantastical narratives that function as facades to explore methods in which concepts of truth and fiction are constructed, focusing mainly on the heroic pioneer. This series of interactions with the constructed environments would culminate in a temporary multi-media installation that would also include video, sound and photography.
