Honoring Women From North to South (2026)

In collaboration with Esti Contes and with the Initiative for Gender Equality in Street Names

In Israel, there is significant gender inequality in street-name commemoration: on average, there are ten times more streets named after men than after women. This project is a participatory performance that invites the public to create a database of women who deserve a street of their own. As part of the action, participants are invited to write the names of women on poster boards, hang them on the gallery walls, and later place temporary stickers bearing these names over street signs with neutral names in various cities.

The project raises awareness, imagines a more equitable public space, highlights the role of public space in shaping cultural memory, and encourages active civic engagement in addressing this historical injustice.
